Being forced to at stay home as Covid-19 spread through the world, making travel impossible and postponed, we decided to give Food and Travel Guides an uplift to our 2nd Anniversary on the 1st of July 2020.
We have updated and will transfer Food and Travel Guides to a completely new site!
So in bad times like this, we still have some amazing news for you: we will re-launch Food and Travel Guides...BUT...in order to do so we need to sort things out together with you.
WHY DO WE DO THIS? The site will look so much better, it will attract more lovely contributors like yourself, easier to update and handle for us, some SEO-improvements (even some downsides to it but we're still young online so we think we'll gain more then we loose) and much, much more.
Fair Warning: a lot of information but you need to read if you want to continue this journey together with us.
We hope you want to. Lets take off!
TABLE OF CONTENT:
A sneak peak of the main page - new look
In addition of making the New Food and Travel Guides look amazing on both desktop and mobile devices, we also decided to make improvements in our SEO, in our Sites Structure, Policy and best of all; Your Profiles!
We also decided there's two type of contributors: WRITERS and GUEST BLOGGERS. This will be crucial in how we'll make your presentation or if you'll have a better, improved, updated Profile too.
But lets find out some things we have made better so far.
We have placed "Meet our Bloggers" in the Top of "Work with us" so focus will be on you. With links to your Food and Travel Guides Writer Profile that have a lot of new layout and functions!
As you can see in the screen shot above we also have integrated a Chat (in the picture that window is open) which allow members to chat one-on-one with each other. Awesome feature if it works out.
WHAT’S NEW IN THE UPDATED PROFILE?
We have thought hard on how to make your site and blog more visible.
After all, that’s our motto: ”Our Mission is to make Your Site Visible” and we are convinced that’s this new improvements is how we all will grow and be more successful.
That’s why your profile have been our first priority when making visibility stand out and also improving the overall experience of Food and Travel Guides to be a better version!
1) Headline Area
Your blog name, where you live and three photo links. The one under your Profile picture is for Contacting you but you have two pages/ blog posts of your choice – from your site!
2) Presentation Area
Here we’ll put two of your choosen Social Links after the Presentation.
3) Your work on Food and Travel Guides
All your work within our site; pages and blog posts in a nice photo link section.
4) Quote Area
Here we’ll put one of your quotes from an article or blog post on Food and Travel Guides with a great photo – and of course we link to your work here too.
5) Spotlight Area
In this section, our Team choose three of your pages or blog posts on your site and bring some traffic to them in a nice looking photo link section.
6) Round Up
We’ll round up with another photo with the possibility to add two more links. Maybe to your Newsletter so our visitors can follow you directly from Food and Travel Guides?
Please note: this is the WRITER profile. As a Guest Blogger (more about that further down) you will not have this Profile.
All credits to you as an Author will still be added and you'll get two links to your site, blog or Social Media as a Guest Blogger.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
We created an online form so you quickly and easy can update the following with us if wanting to continue with us as a Writer.
We need to know where you live – town and country - and which two pages or blog posts you want to highlight here. It’s an important choice so choose wisely. We might have an opinion on your choice if it contradicts any of Our Easy Terms & Conditions.
Choose two of your Social Media Links to go here.
A Call to Action! We’ll explain further down how our ”Active Expossure” works but maybe needless to say; the more activity - the greater expossure.
We choose this one but if you have a favourite quote in your work with us – just let us know.
This is our section to fill – but with your work! We will read your whole Blog and Site in search for the ones we love the most. We will ask you right here to get your permission to use one of your photos from that page or blog post we’ll link to. Of course we’ll put a copyright in. You accept by filling in the form.
We need two of your favourite photos that speaks to the reader ”this is me/ us” for New Profile and Round Up.
ACTIVE EXPOSSURE EXPLAINED
Creating unique content and updating a site continously is crucial for ranking high, getting noticed and capture new visitors and drive them from Food and Travel Guides to your site – we all know that.
That’s why we also spent time to figure out how we best could maintain fresh, interesting content on Food and Travel Guides.
Active Expossure (AE) is our answer together with a Writer and Guest Blogger Policy.
We have several spots on our site we like to call Prime Positions (PP). These spots have the best placements – in top or at first place - and are an opportunity for you to be seen, noticed and to have more visitors to your own site in the end.
We find the PP’s - as you might have guessed – on all cathegories and pages of the site.
And real, real easy explained: This is what happens when you’re active and for instance do a blog post or send us a new article: You’ll get all the PP’s on all relevant spots!
Example: You do a Blog Post about Ecological Farmers in California. The PP’s you get is in the Food Travel Blog, in Top Food Blogs, in Destinations/ North America Guides – and the Top Position in Work with us/ Meet our Bloggers.
Another example: You send us an Article about a 7 day Itinerary to Japan. The PP’s you get is in Top Travel Guides, in Destinations/ Asia Guides – and the Top Position in Work with us/ Meet our Bloggers.
This way we always have new, fresh, quality content and the most active bloggers in PP’s. Win-win-win situation right there.
And by the way; let us explain the difference between a Blog Post and an Article.
As a Blog Post automatically get a PP in the Food Travel Blog; an Article have the advantage of getting an own page.
A Page is a better choice for making deeper on-page SEO, it’s a clean URL and we also can add more advanced code to a page. We do the editing so all you need is to provide an article with photos and links, preferable in Word-format.
However, the Blog Post is something you can manage yourself as a Writer. It’s a real easy blogging tool to use so you should give it a try! Ask us if you need advice.
And if you have installed the WIX App you can even do a Blog Post ”on the go”!
This information leads us to another change with our site...
ARE YOU A (FOOD TRAVEL) WRITER OR A GUEST BLOGGER?
In our mission and idea with Food and Travel Guides we have discovered these two types of members of the site.
We will need you to make a decision; are you willing to get expossure and site visitors on a regular basis as a Food Travel Writer or if your work with Food and Travel Guides done with your first article is in the nature as a Guest Blogger?
What is the difference? Shortly; as a Writer you'll need to be active. We think that at least one update/ per year is reasonable.
It can be a blog post, an article, taking part in a round up...shortly; not that much work for getting expossure and totally worth it if you'll ask us, because we'll put much more energy to highlight our Writers work in the future with for instance paid ads.
This will also have an effect on how we'll do your Updated Profile. It will be clear if you're a Food Travel Writer or Guest Blogger, because with the later you only will get credits in the end of your article.
The obvious perks with being a Writer is the AE explained above and a greater expossure with a new kind of Profile but also that you can make money as a Writer with us.
Because our goal is that ALL contributions as a Writer in a future will be paid.
Until then, we already tag all Affiliate Links so the Author/ Writer have the possibility to get a 50% of our comission from our Affiliate Partners.
All we need is your Pay Pal Email to make payouts if a comission is granted.
We will update all pages of Food and Travel Guides with relevant Affiliate Links from Get Your Guide, Air BnB and the Food/ Travel Partners in our Affiliate Programs.
We're convinced that when Corona is over and the Travels start to get back to normal again (soon hopefully!)- we will have an advantage of doing this transaction to a new site and from start working with fantastic content and Affiliate links directly connected with it.
This will be exiting and hopefully we all can gain from this win-win-win situation!
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DON'T REPLY BEFORE THE DEADLINE?
Your status online will be Guest Blogger if you don't reply before the Deadline 2020-06-28 (we'll need two days to go online 2020-07-01)
We would love to see as many Writers with us as possible but we do understand if you choose to be a Guest Blogger too of course.
Important notice: When filling in the online form (there's a link in the end of this page) you give us all the information that will be displayed online. If you don't fill in the form we can't give you any links, photos, etc that is in the New Updated Profile as a Writer.
Your previous, submitted work will only be online with an Author credit as a Guest Blogger.
WHAT KIND OF PROBLEMS HAVE WE FACED WITH THE NEW VERSION?
Of course there's problems.
For you guys who already have taken advantage from being a Writer and have made blog posts - your work will be lost.
But it can be saved. Our advice is that you make a copy on the post and save it on your computer. After the transition we hope you are willing to uplaod the blog post again - and of course continue to collab with us as a Writer.
We'll loose all JSON-Code which is bad of course - but we'll save all code to be updated at a later stage before transition.
We need to rebuild all pages from scratch (we're on it and have come a long way with all pages).
All Forum posts will be lost. Not a big deal. But the new idea is also to add closed Forum Pages only available to Writers with some great stuff and ideas further on.
So maybe you understand it was some time thinking of positive and negative effects and if it was worth doing this.
We think it will be for sure!
Great you have read so far. We really want to continue working together with you and drive more traffic to your site.
If you want your contribution to be as a Guest Blogger; you don't need to do anything but it would be great if you sent a mail with a notice to us so we don't work in vain on your profile for instance. This also would be appriciated if you for some reason want to remove your work with us - we hope not!
If you want to be a Writer - which is our highest hope - you need to fill in the online form.
HERE'S WHERE YOU FILL IN THE ONLINE FORM
The online form is located on Restaurangbransch.se which is another site we run.
It's in Swedish and focus on the Restaurant Business so it might be mumbo-jumbo for you :) but do take some time to look around as Food and Travel Guides new site will be built in a simular way.
Why is the online form located on Restaurangbransch.se? We only have the extended version of Ascend from WIX on that site today, allowing more forms as this is limited here on Food and Travel Guides.
If you have any questions whatsoever - let us know and we'll straighten those question marks out!
Have a great day,
Team at Food and Travel Guides
