But with no further delay, let us dive into what you (hopefully) came for. What the heck is a Digital Blog Strategy? We understand if you wonder. One reason, of course, to call our online program a Digital Blog Strategy is that the name is unique but a unique name by itself means nothing if it doesn't have a significant purpose. The name is created from the separate terms "Digital Strategy" and "Blog Strategy". So why not just call it a Digital Strategy? The best definition of a Digital Strategy is as follows regarding Google: "Digital Strategy focuses on using technology to improve business performance, whether that means creating new products or reimagining current processes. It specifies the direction an organization will take to create new competitive advantages with technology, as well as the tactics it will use to achieve these changes." Why not just call it a Blog Strategy then? Using Google once again looking for a good definition of Blog Strategy was a little harder, but finally, Blog Strategy could be defined as follows: "A Blog Strategy is to define your goals, make target research, come up with topic ideas and keywords to target, create a content calendar, write content, share and promote the content on your blog." Well, the above quotes aren't quite enough by themselves, are they? Together they constitute a slightly better strategy but we need to explain the Digital Blog Strategy with the easy equation to solve that follows in our next section. Business Plan + Digital Marketing Plan = Digital Blog Strategy To become successful you need to start writing a Business Plan. No, we're not joking. Because it doesn't matter if you want to monetize on your blogging or not; success always starts with a Business Plan. Don't know how to write one? Don't worry. We'll give you helpful tips on how to and what it should include. But let us answer the question in the headline, and certainly on your mind, first. This is our own definition of a Digital Blog Strategy: Your Digital Blog Strategy should include a seperate Business Plan that reveals your reason and purpose with your online presence, while the Digital Marketing Plan should focus on how to reach your audience digitally online. When these two plans work together you have the foundation of your Digital Blog Strategy. Read those two sentences again. It's spot on. This program is about showing ways to become more creative as a writer and getting better equipped to successfully reach out and find your audience online. And the way to move in that direction is to identify, concretize, visualize, structure, and implement your idea of being there online, using a Digital Blog Strategy. How to write a Business Plan easily It all starts with the Idea. Your Business Idea. The Business Idea is somewhat 2-3 sentences that summon your whole reason and purpose with blogging or creating a site. Period. What are your reason and purpose? In the iconic scene above from "The Matrix Reloaded", the unpleasant character of Agent Smith actually has a point. "There's no escaping reason, no denying purpose, for as we both know, without purpose we would not exist. It is purpose that created us. Purpose that connects us. Purpose that pulls us. That guides us. That drives us. It is purpose that defines us. Purpose that binds us. We are here because of you, Mr. Anderson. We're here to take from you what you tried to take from us. Purpose." Get the point? You should deep-dive into your purpose with writing or creating your site and put it on paper in a Business Idea. An example of a short and perfectly phrased Business Idea: "With the blog Tasty Tomatoes, we will give our readers the complete background facts to all the approx 10,000 varieties of tomatoes in the world, with cultivation tips and tasteful recipes" Crystal clear, right? Now, a Business Idea is a foundation for how you will proceed with your Business Plan. Make the Business Idea as simple as you can but make it thought-through so you can build your Business Plan and Brand from it. Yes, we mean Brand. Everything you create is a Brand, and that Brand is utterly you. SMART Goals As mentioned in the Infographic, SMART is a method used when Coaching to set and achieve a wanted goal. It's an acronym for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely. We will write about How to Start a Blog Essentials in the next step, but the reason we brought up SMART now is that the method applies to your Business Plan, your Digital Marketing Plan, on how-to-write-better-content, and in defining any goal, any task, any topic - even creating your own Digital Blog Strategy. We will mention SMART-things in basically all steps, which makes it most important for you to assimilate and understand. Let us break up the parts of SMART and explain them right away. Specific Measurable Achievable Realistic Timely Benefits when using SMART POP and the How to Get S**t Done Theory Ever heard about POP Theory? We're impressed if you have because it's our own Theory to Get S**t Done! To achieve goals and get the progress you need to start a process. Everything you do is a process. One task, one day, a week, month, year, or a lifetime, all are processed. And all processes have the same architecture. But firstly, let us define what a process and progress are, what they mean, and how we look at them and realized that the process always is being entwined with progress. The definition of a process is "a series of actions or steps taken to achieve a particular end" while the definition of progress is "a forward or onward movement towards a destination". True Truth. However; we don't like the "end" or "destination" part. Why? "A Process is never ending if you want Progress. It's when you constantly want to improve, to become better, moving forwards and upwards, that Progress in that sense, have no final destination. The only way to achieve Progress is by reapetably starting a new and improved Process" *Kaboom* (...was that the sound of some mindblown brains out there?) Read that quote a couple of times. It will significantly help you understand the POP. We came up with this theory a long time ago using a simplified model of a "change process" and it has been stuck with us ever since. Let us break up the theory and explain how it works right now. Analyze Define Plan Execute How to use POP Actually; if you think about it everything you do in daily life is a Process with the POP active all the time. Some of your ongoing Processes just take micro-seconds. Some take a day, a week, months, or even a whole lifetime. You have multiple Processes running right now. To gain success in whatever you want to accomplish in life, you'll have to go through those 4 steps, whether you want it or not. When knowing that, feel confident that your purpose with creating an online presence can be done, it can get successful and you can always improve using POP and know what you'll need to do next. Knowing about the stages you must walk through will make you more efficient, structured, focused, and determined. The great thing with the POP insight is that it will save you time, avoiding unnecessary setbacks or doing loads of work ending up in a disappointing "nothing".
